F.A.Q.’s (Frequently Asked Questions)

What is the price difference between Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir with Bergerson’s windows and doors?

  • We sell them for the same price, whether cedar or fir the cost is the same so we make the price the same.

What is the best way to list the sizes for my window or door when asking for a quote?

  • List them Width first then Height.  And when asking for sash parts list them Thickness X Width X Height.  We believe this comes from the Cartesian Coordinate System, where the X axis is always listed before the Y axis.
  • We prefer to have the actual overall unit size rather than an R.O. (rough opening).  This helps to avoid confusion since everything we do is custom made.
  • Our bids list sizes in total inches not feet and inches.

How big/small can you build it?

  • Weight and hardware configurations, along with type of window/door, can limit the size that a unit will be made.  We also like to employ common sense when building/designing a product.  This is a variable that will be taken on a case-by-case basis.

Do you make windows or doors with special glass such as colored or leaded (zinc) glass?

  • Upon special request we can and will do these types of orders, though we don’t get many requests for them.  We will usually need extra lead time to complete this type of order.

How much is it to have the lug or lambs-tongue detail added to my Double Hung window?

  • It can be added at no additional cost.  In fact we prefer it (though it doesn’t have to be added either).  The reason is because we feel that it is a good-looking classic part of the hung window that was almost forgotten over the last half century.  We would love to see it make a come-back.
