HUNG WOOD WINDOWS INCLUDING HARDWARE

Above:  A renovation using Bergerson all wood double hung windows.  When someone mentions the words historic restoration, traditional, Victorian, or like words, the window that probably most comes to mind is the all wood hung window.  Hung windows are the tradition, and the traditional all-wood product won't crack in cold weather.  Two things worry consumers when using wood; that of rot and maintenance.  We attack those problems by generally using cedar.  Old-growth cedar is naturally rot resistant and a simple wipe down with stain every other year will ensure these windows outlast you and your grandkids.  Other manmade materials will eventually crack because there is no maintenance program for them.  Double hung windows save space, are easy to open, and to keep in good order and looking great.  While our hung window is smooth to operate, it is also a tightly sealed window. 

Speaking of restoration.  Wood windows were built to last, are easy to repair, and relatively inexpensive.  You may not need full windows with jambs.  Ask your builder; if your window jambs are solid (no rot), we can build you hung or casement sash.  We also build storm doors and windows, and matching screens.

We thought we would show off one of our originals and a recently built double hung.  We kept the same basic design but have improved on the hardware, choice of wood, and of course, we're getting more experienced.  Why change something that has worked for nearly 200 years?  By the way; today's cameras sure help don't they...
