 Re:  U-Value, Air Infiltration, Water Penetration, and Design Pressure Test Results

 Testing was done at two different independent labs provided the following results:

 U-Value Testing: Testing was conducted with standard insulated glass, the glass having its own U-Value rating of .49.  Our double hung window tested at .40 (our other windows types are comparable).  The National Renewal Energy Laboratory, a Department of Energy Lab, reports that using Low-E will give you 30-50 percent greater efficiency (U value of .28 to .20), and Low-E 2 glass would give an even greater U-Value.

 Testing results is relative to size, glazing type, function and configuration of windows.  There are many types of tests given, including winter loss, and summer gain.  Testing for each shape, type, size, configuration, etc., in the custom window business, is not practical.

 Air Infiltration Testing:  Tests were conducted at equal to 25 M.P.H.; we tested at .02 SCFM, 15 times better then the industry standard of .3 SCFM

Water Penetration Testing: Tests were conducted at a rate of 5 gallons per hour with a wind pressure nearing 50 M.P.H. with no leakage

 Design Pressure Testing:  A window size of 48” x 72” gave us a rating of 40 psf which is equal to a wind load of 127 M.P.H.  The design pressure is achieved by a testing of 155 M.P.H winds, or 60 psf, which our design met with “Maximum Structural Pressure Achieved”. 

We were the top of 20,000 entries and received a blue ribbon for “Thermal Performance”, and we have never been beat when it comes to “Air Infiltration” in our casement window.
